Fabric Lampshade:
Unscrew the brass nut (turn it to the left, or counter-clockwise).
Once the nut is off, lift the lampshade straight up to remove it from the base.
Glass Lampshade
This glass lampshade assembly has three parts: the glass shade, a plastic stem, and a brass nut. Normally, you can remove the entire assembly by turning the shade counter-clockwise.
The brass nut can also be removed by turning it counter-clockwise.
If the glass shade is broken, wear protective gloves before disassembling it.
